Build tools (Maven, Gradle etc.) and some libraries initially had bugs with versions Java versions 8 and needed updates. Even today, with e.g. Java =9, certain build tools print out 'reflective access'-warnings when building Java projects, which simply 'feels not ready', even though the builds are fine. Java™ SE Development Kit 8, Update 291 (JDK 8u291) April 20, 2021. The full version string for this update release is 1.8.0291-b10 (where 'b' means 'build'). The version number is 8u291. JDK 8 was the second part of 'Plan B'. The singledriving feature of the release was ProjectLambda. (Project Jigsaw was initiallyproposed for this release but later dropped).Additional features proposed via the JEPProcess were included so long as they fit into the overallschedule required for Lambda. The original schedule aimed to ship the release in earlySeptember 2013, but due to an increased focus onbrowser-related security issues that date was not achievable.The final schedule, proposed on 2013/4/18 and adopted on 2013/4/26, was as follows:
